The Guyana Fire Service responded to a report of a house fire at King Street, Hampshire Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

Firefighters from the Rose Hall Fire Station responded promptly and, upon arrival, found the two-storey wooden building fully engulfed in flames.

The firefighters immediately commenced firefighting operations and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby properties. However, the building and its contents were completely destroyed.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire is suspected to have been maliciously set by person(s) unknown.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
