GUYOIL, GEA inquiry report due in May

Minister of State Mr. Joseph Harmon met, yesterday, with members of the Board of Inquiry that was mandated to investigate  allegations of mismanagement and wrongdoing at the Guyana Oil Company (GUYOIL) and the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA).

geaAccording to a statement from the Ministry of the Presidency, the board members – who were appointed in March, met yesterday with Minister Harmon to update him on their progress and provided an oral preliminary report.

Assistant Commissioner Winston Cosbert leads the board, and its other members are Superintendent Julius Wright and Major Edgar Adams.

The board was commissioned following several allegations of misconduct against staff within both fuel agencies.

The aim of the Inquiry is to advise the State on the veracity of those allegations and to report their findings and conclusions to the Government and to make recommendations on actions to be taken if individuals are found culpable.

The report is due on the May 16, 2016.
