According to a U.S. Embassy Facebook post, Ambassador Holloway congratulated Hyles for such an incredible achievement and noted that it is one which both Guyana and the United States can be proud of.

It should be noted that the scholar has chosen Harvard University to further her studies.

Hyles was accompanied by her mother, Ms. Anetta Seaely and social activist, Mr. Mark Benschop.

Hyles will also be celebrating her birthday tomorrow, May 26, as Guyana celebrates its 50th Independence Anniversary.
