Guyanese paid US$5000 to fetch US$500,000 worth in cocaine gets caught

pile-of-curry-powder[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Guyanese passenger travelling to the United States of America was recently busted at the JFK International Airport after agents at the port became suspicious when he arrived with several packets of curry and rice.

In excess of 19 kilos of cocaine was reportedly found concealed in the packages which was in his luggage.

He has been identified as 55 year old Oral Anthony Caines.

 Caines was in possession of three bags, including two checked in suitcases and one carry on duffle bag. During questioning by the Customs and Border Patrol agents, he claimed ownership of the three bags and their contents.

Caines reportedly told the agents that he was paid US$5,000 to bring the drugs into the United States.

The weight of the cocaine recovered from the man’s luggage was 19.2336 kilos or about 42.4028 pounds with a street value of half a million US dollars ($500,000).

He was placed under arrest and appeared in court yesterday.
