Guyanese Footballer inks new contract with American Club

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Guyanese Defender J.P. Rodrigues has signed a new contract with the North American Soccer League side – the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

JP Rodrigues 1The newly signed document is a two-year contract, with the second year being a club option. The 6-1, 175lb defender has played for the Rowdies during the 2011 and 2012 seasons and cemented himself as a key contributor for the Rowdies’ 2012 NASL Soccer Bowl Championship team.

He has starred some 23 regular season matches and four playoff matches.   The Guyanese back has also played for Miami FC and Major League Soccer’s D.C. United.

Rodriguez has also notched up 26 international caps, including qualifying matches for both the 2010 and 2014 World Cup for Guyana.
