Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance Dr Ashni Singh has announced that Guyana’s economy is estimated to have expanded by 19.3% last year.

He made the announcement during the presentation of Budget 2026 under the theme “Putting People First”.

The Finance Minister added that the non-oil economy expanded by 14.3%, driven largely by the agriculture, mining, construction and services sectors.

He noted too that overall real economic growth continues to be supported by the country’s growing oil and gas industry.

Guyana’s agriculture, forestry and fishing sector recorded an estimated growth of 11.5% in 2025, with expansion across all major sub-sectors, the Finance Minister further noted.

The oil and gas sector expanded by 21%, with total crude oil production reaching 261.1 million barrels.

He noted that growth was supported by higher output from the Liza Unity and Prosperity Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels, along with the start-up of the One Guyana FPSO in August 2025.Average crude oil production from the Stabroek Block was just under 830,000 barrels per day.

The Liza Destiny FPSO produced an average of approximately 134,300 barrels per day, while the Liza Unity averaged 249,500 barrels per day. Production from the Prosperity FPSO averaged 255,200 barrels per day, and the One Guyana FPSO produced just under 191,000 barrels per day.
