Guyana umpire Gyananad Sukhdeo passes away

The West Indies Cricket Board has confirmed that Guyanese umpire Gyananad Sukhdeo passed away on Tuesday, 24th May.

Sukhdeo, who turned 41 on 20th May, had been a member of the WICB junior umpires panel since 2011 and served in Under-15, Under-17 and the Under-19 tournaments.

As well as serving in the age group tournaments, Sukhdeo was also on standby for the regional four-day competition in the Caribbean.

In a media release, the WICB offered condolences to Sukhdeo’s family and friends in Guyana and in the Caribbean Islands.

“The President, Board of Directors, Management and Staff of the West Indies Cricket Board regret the passing of Gyananad Sukhdeo,” the WICB statement read.

“The late Guyanese umpire just turned 41 on May 20 passed away yesterday, May 24.

“The team offers condolences to his family and friends in Guyana and around the region.”
