[www.inewsguyana.com] – President of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Drubahadur along with Vice-President Fizul Bacchus received the Guyana Jaguars on Monday morning at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport after their second place finish in the NAGICO Super50 tournament.

Drubahadur congratulated the team on appearing in the final and urged them to not take the loss too hard.

“You have bowled well in the final, but didn’t get going with the bat. The best batsmen in the world struggle against Sunil Narine and dealing with bowlers like him, it is one area we need to do more work on for the future,” he said.

Further, Drubahadur urged the players that it is time to refocus for the four-day tournament.

“The limited overs contest is finished and it is important that you put that behind you and channel all your focus on the second leg of the Regional 4-Day tournament. It will be a test of your determination and self-belief. We at the GCB believe you can do it and I am certain that your fans out there believe the same”.

Guyana defeated Windward Islands Volcanoes by 142 runs and Barbados by two wickets, before losing to the Combined Campuses and Colleges in a close encounter in the preliminary round. They got the better of Jamaica by six wickets in the semi-final.

The second leg of the Regional 4-Day will begin on February 06, with Guyana Jaguars in the lead with 57 points, seven ahead of Jamaica.
