Guyana Jaguars set to wing out on January 2 ahead of 3rd round

After a dominating opening phase in the 2018/2019 CWI PCL Four-Day Tournament, reigning champs Guyana Jaguars will resume their title defence when they wing out on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

The four-time champions battle the Barbados Pride in round three at the Kensington Oval, but will be missing opener Trevon Griffith, Tevin Imlach and youngster Akshaya Persaud. They are out of the third round, according to the official Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) release. Further, Windies all-rounder Keemo Paul injured his finger during the last match in Bangladesh, while leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo was still in the USA at the time of selection.

Star batsman and Indian Premier League (IPL)–bound left-hander Shimron Hetmyer has requested to be rested following his non-stop action since the home series in the Caribbean versus Bangladesh back in the summer. Meanwhile, the pugnacious Sherfane Rutherford returns to the side along with Chandrapaul Hemraj and Raymon Reifer.

The 13-man squad : Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Leon Johnson, Vishaul Singh, Raymon Reifer, Christopher Barnwell, Sherfane Rutherford, Anthony Bramble, Romario Shepherd, Veerasammy Permaul, Clinton Pestano, Gudakesh Motie, and Keon Joseph. The team is led by Manager/ Assistant Coach Rayon Griffith while Esaun Crandon stands as the Coach. Physiotherapist Neil Barry Jr will also accompany the team.
