DSC_9293[www.inewsguyana.com] – Amidst a vocal home crowd, Guyana after a few short years away from international football won their first home international game on Sunday evening at the National Stadium, Providence.

From the blast of the first whistle, Guyana played positive football against St Lucia to pull off a 2-nil win.

With tension building after a few missed opportunities, Vurlon Mills made a push down the right wing before placing a perfect through ball to one of his teammates who crossed the ball right into the path of Eon Alleyne, who made no mistake and rocked the back of the net in 34th minute to send the boisterous crowd into a frenzy.

Alleyne’s goal ended the first half for Guyana on a positive note with a tense 1-0 lead.

However, unlike the long wait in the first half, Guyana came out of the half time break pushing the tempo of the game that resulted in Sheldon Holder scoring an easy goal in the 49th minute to seal the deal for the host nation.

Guyana will match up with Grenada on March 29 at the National Stadium.
