Gunmen rob another family in Helena #1, Mahaica

  • Police said one suspect in custody

A man, his wife and their young child were, on Friday night, terrorized in their home when two masked gunmen stormed in and demanded cash and jewellery from the family.

Reports are that around 20:10hrs on Friday, the family that resides in Helena #1, Mahaica, was inside of their house when they heard a noise.

Within moments they realized that their home was being invaded by bandits but by then it was too late to sound an alarm since the perpetrators had already pointed their guns in the family’s direction.

INews was told that one of the gunmen began making demands for their cash and valuables as the other started searching the home.

While executing the robbery, one of the bandits gun-butted the Mahaica resident to his head as the man’s wife and child looked on helplessly.

The two perpetrators managed to make good their escape with $35,000 in cash and an undisclosed amount of gold jewellery from the family.

A police source told this online publication that one of the suspects has been arrested and is presently in police custody.

It was also stated that these two gunmen are believed to be the same perpetrators who recently robbed a Chinese couple from Helena #2, Mahaica, last week. (Kristen Macklingam)
