Gunmen invade Georgetown business, assault and rob owner

Businessman and owner of the GT Shop, Greg Terborg was earlier on Saturday assaulted and robbed in excess of $500,000 after his Winter Place, Stabroek establishment was invaded by two bandits, one reportedly armed with a handgun.

Based on information received, Terborg was robbed of a gold chain valued $140,000, $5000 cash and a quantity of clothing valued $400,000 by the two bandits who pretended to be customers.

One was described as short, while the other was described as tall.

This publication understands that after entering the store at around 13:00h, one of the robbers held the businessman at gunpoint and ordered him to lie on the floor. In fear the victim reportedly compiled.

However, as Terborg was lying on the floor, one of the bandits reportedly assaulted him, while the other relived him of his jewellery and clothing in the store.

The duo then made good their escape in a southern direction on Winter Place on foot.

The matter was reported to the police, who are currently investigating.

The businessman’s establishment was recently featured in one of the local dailies where he reported that the entity was opened in May of this year.
