Gunman, alleged female accomplice caught by police shortly after robbery


handcuffs[] – A man and a woman were today (Wednesday, January 07) intercepted and arrested by police shortly after allegedly robbing a vendor and his wife at the Black Bush Polder Access Road, Adventure, Corentyne.

According to a police report, at around 07:30 hours this morning, 54 – year – old vendor Hemraj Singh of Lusigan, East Coast Demerara and his wife were held up at by two men armed with shotguns.

The perpetrators had exited a motorcar with two other men and a woman that had blocked the path of the motor canter that the victims were in, police said.

The men took away $180,000, a cell phone and escaped in their motor vehicle.

Quick response by the police on receipt of the report led to the motorcar, suspected to be used in the robbery, being recovered at Scottsburg, Corentyne and the arrest of a man and a woman.
