The owner of a Wismar, Linden Hotel and Bar was on Thursday taken into police custody for allegedly being involved in trafficking in persons (TIP). According to information received, the arrest was made at about 21:30h.
This Online publication understands that the police received information and went to the establishment and conducted a search during which two female-both foreign nationals were seen. Upon questioning, the women claimed that they were held against their will at the facility.
Following the revelation, the two women were removed from the business premises and handed over to officials attached to the Counter-Trafficking in Persons Unit at the Social Protection Ministry.
Investigations are continuing.
