simple-telephone-call[www.inewsguyana.com] – A truck earlier this morning (November, 03) pulled down the Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company’s (GT&T) aerial cables at Providence, East Bank Demerara which has caused a complete shutdown of its landline service along the West Coast Demerara and Essequibo Coast.

According to GT&T’s Public Relations Officer, Allison Parker, the Company’s cables were damaged as a result and emergency crews are currently working to repair them.

She explained that the network is designed in such a way that it is inter-connected to the affected areas.

With the company’s landline down, all GT&T’s internet service customers will be affected as well. Parker could not give a specific time frame as to when the service would be back up and running. [Tracey Khan – Drakes]
