[www.inewsguyana.com] – Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) Company, R.K Sharma reiterated that the entity is fully open and welcomes the liberalization of the telecommunications sector.
Sharma, when asked by reporters about the process and the fact that the issue will again come up in the National Assembly, related that the Company is looking forward to the return of the Telecoms Bill to Parliament.
The CEO however pointed out that GT&T did had some concerns with aspects of the Bill and that was communicated to the select committee. He did not want to divulge the nature of the concerns.
He acknowledged that in any country where there is ground breaking legislation, there are consultations. Sharma reiterated that GT&T is confident that Guyana will have liberalization of the telecommunications sector very soon.[Leroy Smith]
