Grove woman allegedly busted with Marijuana at Ogle Airport remanded to prison

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Vanessa Stephens of Lot 48 Grove Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara, was on Tuesday, February 24 refused bail on a narcotics charge.

Before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on February 23 at the Ogle International Airport, East Coast Demerara, she had in her possession 576 grammes of marijuana.

The Court heard that on the day in question, Stephens was a passenger on LIAT flight 512, which had arrived from St. Vincent. After a procedural check was done at the airport, the illicit substance was found in her hand piece.

The Court heard that she told the ranks that she bought “bush” to make tea. She was remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to Sparendaam Court on February 27.
