Forty-year-old Grove, East Bank Demerara resident; Jamal Bacchus, who works as a cash crop farmer at Sharima, Linden was remanded to prison for possession of narcotics. Bacchus appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Wales Magistrate’s Court earlier today (Monday).

Police said that on Friday last at Rockstone, Linden he was found with 77.8 grams of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

The father of one denied the charge but was refused bail on grounds that Bacchus listed two different addresses after being detained.

As he was being taken into police custody, he expressed worry for his pumpkin and calloo crops, which he indicated are ready to be reaped.

Bacchus’ matter was transferred to the Linden Magistrate’s Court where he will next appear on August 24.
