[www.inewsguyana.com] – Regan Rodrigues a.k.a Grey Boy – the prime suspect in the assassination of Courtney Crum-Ewing – was hauled before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates Court charged with murder on August 07.
Thirty-seven year-old ‘Grey Boy’ was not required to plead to the charge which alleged that on March 10, at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, he murdered Crum-Ewing.
The accused however told the court that ‘money was passed’ and the real man that assassinated the political activist walked away scotch free.
Rodrigues was found by police with an unlicensed .32 pistol which was tested and found to be the same weapon used to kill Crum-Ewing.
He was remanded to prison and will be required to return to court on August 21. He was not represented by legal counsel.
Crum-Ewing was assassinated while urging residents of Diamond to vote for the Opposition Coalition at the just concluded May 11, 2015 general and regional elections.He was shot five times, including three times to the head at point blank range.
One of the many persons that were arrested and questioned as the police conducted investigations was the former body guard of Former Attorney General Anil Nandlall.
The bodyguard – Rajput Narine – has since been released from police custody and Nandlall has stated that he hired the man after the assassination.
