Granger wants report on NOC Investigation

[www.inewsguyana.com]Leader of a Partnership for National Unity (APNU), David Granger will be calling for the report from the Commission of Inquiry established to investigate the events at the New Opportunity Corps (NOC).

During the November 7 sitting of the National Assembly, the Opposition Leader will call on Youth Minister, Dr. Frank Anthony to provide answers which the Commission investigated prior to, during and after the escape on August 22, 2012.

Granger also the report from the Commission which investigated all matters prior to, during and after the fire on August 23, 2012; Culpability of the person or persons involved in the escape; Culpability of the person or persons involved in the fire; Recommendations as to the appropriate disciplinary actions to be taken against those found culpable.

The Commission was also tasked with reviewing existing arrangements, and make recommendations to prevent any such reoccurrences.

“Such matter(s) as may in the opinion of the Board be considered relevant for the purpose of the inquiry and the Board can if necessary co-opt other skills and expertise that in its view will aid in the inquiry.”

Following the fire and mass break out of inmates that occurred in August last year, Granger had called for a Commission of Inquiry into the affairs of the reform institution.

Additionally, it was recently reported that three teenagers at the institution are pregnant.
