Commissioner of Police Mr. Clifton Hicken along with Deputy Commissioners Watts and McBean, and Senior Superintendent Stephen, today, met with representatives of the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Program Execution Unit and contractors at Albert and Lamaha Square, Georgetown.
The discussion centered on the completion of the L-5 69KV Transmission Line and Substation Upgrade Projects, key components of GPL’s infrastructure modernisation plan aimed at improving power stability and efficiency across Georgetown.
In addition to project updates, the parties explored the relocation of the Police Outposts currently positioned at Albert and Lamaha Streets and Vlissengen Road and Lamaha Street to facilitate the ongoing upgrades while ensuring uninterrupted police operations and community coverage.
Commissioner Hicken emphasised the importance of inter-agency collaboration, noting that national development projects must progress in tandem with the Force’s operational readiness and commitment to public safety.
Modern infrastructure and public security are both pillars of progress and the Guyana Police Force remains committed to supporting GPL and all national agencies in building a safer, more connected Guyana.
The meeting concluded with mutual agreement on continued coordination between the Force and GPL to ensure the smooth execution of the capital city’s power enhancement initiatives.
