Staff of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission [GGMC] today, Monday July 29, picketed in front of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment.
The picketing exercise was in relation to the GGMC’s anniversary celebrations, which the staff related that they were asked to cancel. The GGMC is slated to celebrate their 34th anniversary on August 1.
However, iNews understands that the Commission was asked to consider having their celebrations as part of the Mining Week Activities later next month instead of on the date of the anniversary.
This was not met with much agreement by the staff of the GGMC, which prefers to celebrate their anniversary on the actual date.
