[www.inewsguyana.com] – Former Police Constable, Michael Pollydore was today placed on $200,000 bail for the unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition by Magistrate Judy Latchman.

The 32 – year – old man of Tucville, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to both charges, which alleged that on November 04 at Georgetown, he had in his possession one glock pistol, one .40 live round of ammunition and eight .9 mm round of ammunition, without being the holder of a firearm license.

Representing the defendant was Attorney – at – Law, Patrice Henry, who told the Court that Pollydore’s sister and a man identified as Desmond McPherson had an altercation during which McPherson drew a firearm.

The Court heard that McPherson then exited the sister’s home and drove off with a car which is also used by Pollydore. He then parked the said vehicle in front of the defendant’s premises, while the woman made a police report.

The Police then took the car to the Police Station and in the absence of Pollydore, searched the vehicle and claimed they found the firearm and ammunition.

He was told of the offence and arrested and detained for 72 hours. Bail was granted based on the fact that the firearm and ammunition were found in Pollydore’s absence.

The defendant was granted $100,000 on each charge and the matter was adjourned until January 13, 2015.
