Flurry of protests welcome Parliamentarians

A number of protestors representing various groups gathered in front of the Parliament building this afternoon, Wednesday August 7.

Protestors from A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), Progressive Youth Organisation (PYO), residents from Regions 1, 2, 7 and 9 along with the relatives of the policemen who were remanded to prison, took to the streets.

The APNU protestors are lashing out against the Government and are calling on them to remove Carol Sooba as the Acting Town Clerk, while the PYO protestors are protesting for the opposition to support the Amaila Falls Legisltations.

The residents from region 1,2,7 and 9 are protesting against what they say are traditional lands being taken away from them, while relatives of the policemen are protesting for them to be released from prison.

The protest nearly got out of control as a number of persons tried to get pass the police barricades.
