[www.inewsguyana.com] – Nineteen-year-old remand prisoner, Wesley Griffith of Thomas Street, McKenzie, Linden, was today sentenced to five months imprisonment for attacking a victim in a matter against him.

Particulars of the offence said he unlawfully assaulted the 50-year-old Deryck Halley in the Magistrate’s Court on June 20. He appeared before Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond on July 16 last and pleaded guilty to the offence.

Griffith had before Magistrate Judy Latchman on the day in question to answer a robbery-with-violence offence allegedly committed against the same Virtual Complaiant (VC), Halley on June 26, 2013 when he lunged at him from the prisoner’s dock and dealt him several cuffs and kicks about his body.

He allegedly robbed Halley of one motorcycle, one Blackberry cellular phone valued $52,000, one nokia cellular phone valued $25,000 and cash$30,000 house keys, together valued $ 277,000.

Griffith also has an ongoing $5M Amelia Ward’s armed robbery matter at McKenzie Court with three other men.
