Fisherman denies stealing $2M worth in items

A fisherman denied stealing over $2 million worth of items, earlier today (Wednesday), when he appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to the necessary charge.

Patrick Smith, 37, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that between June 11 and 13 he stole $400,000 worth of gold jewellery, one metal safe valued $100,000, one HP laptop valued $90,000, one Sony laptop valued $70,000, 24 Clarkes shoes valued $288,000, one TV set valued $500,000, one Sony TV set valued $400,000, one Telego cell phone valued $100,000 and $500,000 in cash property of Merindra Bhagmadin.

The facts of the matter were not revealed in court; however Police Prosecutor Simone Payne had no bail objections.

The defendant was granted $75,000 bail. The case will continue on June 28.
