Fire Officer dies in Berbice road accident

Senior Fire Officer, Linden Mc Calmon, who was attached to the Fire Station in Georgetown, died early this morning, Thursday August 1 in an accident.

According to the police, the accident occurred at about 12:30h at Bath Settlement Public Road, West Coast Berbice. Also injured in the accident is 56 – year – old Keith Bond of Grove, East Bank Demerara.

Investigations have revealed that the two men were occupants in a motor car, when the driver lost control and crashed into a utility pole. They received injuries and were taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where Linden Mc Calmon was pronounced dead and Keith Bond was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Police stated that the driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
