Fire destroys home of grieving widow

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A grieving Plaisance, East Coast Demerara widow is now homeless after a fire destroyed her home on Saturday morning just after 7:00hrs.

When iNews arrived at the scene e, the structure had burned down, except for the stairs.

Neighbours explained that while no one perished in the fire, the woman was still reeling from the death of her 78 – year – old husband.

It was explained that the family kept a ‘wake’ at the residence on Friday night but left the woman, Donna Pickett in the home afterwards.

Reports from the neighbour indicated that Pickett was able to escape the home without being harmed, and has since left to attend her husband’s funeral service scheduled for today.

It was also noted that the 102 Prince Williams Street house could have been saved if the Guyana Fire Service had arrived on the scene earlier.
