First and second year students at the Guyana School of Agriculture [GSA] in Mon Repos on the East Coast Demerara are protesting against the administration for not assisting them.

Vice president of the GSA student body Clennell Petty related that yesterday morning they observed one of the students motionless only to discover that she was taken over by “spirits.”

Petty stated that the principal was informed of the incident but did assure the students of any solution.

He also stated that students were afraid to stay in the dormitory last evening and left while others left today.

Last evening the students took their mattresses out of the dormitory and slept in the yard.

They are contemplating to do the same tonight to avoid a reoccurrence of last night. The students spoke with the principal requesting prayers be done in the dormitory to keep out the spirits but their request was refused.

Today, both first and second year students had to write exams but refused and will not write until the issue is sorted out by the administration. [Nickhail Jaundoo]
