Father of three accused of stealing $3,000 Bed Sheet

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Winston Letlow, 51 of Charlestown, Georgetown, accused of stealing a bed sheet was ordered to post $25,000 bail.

He appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty and pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on Tuesday, February 18 on Regent Street, he stole from Fabric World one bed sheet valued $3,000, property of Raymond Reece.

Police Prosecutor, Seon Blackman told the Court that the accused visited the store, picked up the article and placed in a black plastic bag under his arm.

The Court heard that after the man departed the store, he was apprehended by public spirited citizens.
However, Letlow denied the charge. He told the Court that he visited the store to purchase a hat, when he was approached by one of the sale representatives, who accused him of stealing.

Letlow revealed that his wife died of cancer and that he has three children to take care of. Bail was granted and Letlow will have to report to the East Ruimveldt Police Station every Monday and Friday until February 26.
