Farmer struck down on Essequibo road; driver abandons vehicle


POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING[] – A 31 – year – old Farmer of Johanna Ceclia, Essequibo Coast, has been admitted to the Suddie Hospital on Monday night (November 02) after he was struck down by a Canter Lorry while walking along the public road at around 18:00 hrs.

At the time of the accident, the Farmer was on his way home. iNews understands that Arvin Tulsie Mayhilall was walking on the right hand side of the road when he was hit by the vehicle that was proceeding to Suddie from Anna Regina.

According to Mayhilall’s mother, her only child was hurled into the air and landed a good distance from the impact. iNews understands that the Farmer suffered serious injuries to his back, face, head and has a deep cut on his neck.

According to the mother, the driver of the vehicle stopped a short distance from where the accident occurred and escaped, leaving the vehicle on the road.

She further noted that the owner of the canter lorry is a businessman, who has since contacted the family and wants to settle the matter; however the distraught mother made it clear that she wants a full police investigation into the accident.

The driver was later apprehended and is e in police custody assisting with investigation.
