Fallen GPL cable blamed for 12-hour landline phone, mobile, internet shutdown

Thousands of residents living along the West Coast and West Bank of Demerara and along the East Bank of Essequibo and Essequibo Coast on Sunday experienced a 12-hour landline phone, mobile and internet shutdown.

This publication was informed that the disruptions started at 05:00h and connections were restored at 16:30h.

GTT related to this media group, when asked, that there were some service disruptions due to a fallen Guyana Power and Light (GPL) cable in Eccles, East Bank Demerara on Sunday morning.

On its Facebook page, the telecommunications company has a notice outlining that data, mobile and landline services in Tuschen , Parika, Leonora, Windsor Forest, Fellowship, Meten-Meer-Zorg, Cornelia Ida, Zeeburg, Vreed-en-Hoop, Anna Regina, Hampton Court, Suddie, Queenstown, Better Hope, La Grange, Canal, Wales, Supenaam and Charity will be impacted.
