Ex-cop in custody for illegal gun, ammo

[www.inewsguyana.com] – An interdicted police rank has been detained and is assisting the police with their investigations following the discovery of an unlicensed .38 revolver along with three live .38 rounds and three .38 spent shells.

A police report revealed that ranks of the Bartica Police Station was investigating reports of indecent assault and discharging of a loaded firearm which occurred at Puruni Landing, Upper Mazaruni River on October 27, 2015, when they decided to search a house at Puruni Landing.

The search was conducted at approximately 13:30 hrs on Thursday, October 29, when the illegal items were found. The suspect remains in custody while a ballistic test of the firearm is being done.
