ETI lecturer succumbs to injuries…driver for court today

A Queenstown, Essequibo Coast man succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital while receiving treatment for his injuries as a result of an accident on Saturday morning.

Chrisnauth Kassinauth, 54, a Technical Drawing lecturer at the Essequibo Technical Institute, was involved in a collision Saturday morning on the Suddie Public Road. He was air-dashed from Suddie Public Hospital to the Georgetown Public Hospital for emergency treatment.

Reports are that the father of three succumbed while receiving medical attention at GPHC.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car who has been in custody since the accident is likely to appear at Charity Magistrate’s Court today.

It is alleged that he drove car PHH 2629 in a dangerous manner injuring Kassinauth. The accident occurred at about 08:30h just in front of the Suddie Hospital entrance.

Reports are Kassinauth was riding motorcycle CH 4646 along the Suddie roadway when a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction turned across the road, resulting in the collision. The dead man has been a lecturer for more than 12 years.

Investigations are continuing into the matter.
