Essequibo man comes face-to-face with home intruder

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Police have managed to arrest a home intruder who earlier on Wednesday, March 5 succeeded in escaping from a home he had broken into.

According to a police report, at about 4:45hrs, 45 – year – old Gordon Williams of Perseverance, Essequibo Coast awoke and found that his home was broken into.

A man was seen in the house and was confronted by Williams. However, the intruder managed to escape. A check revealed that jewellery, cash and a cell phone to the total value of $3.3M were stolen.

According to police, diligent investigations by ranks led to the arrest of a suspect at the Parika Market, who has been positively identified by the victim.

Most of the stolen jewellery, the cell phone and $13,900 were recovered by the police. The perpetrator is in police custody and will be charged accordingly.
