Enmore man robbed of $1M, relieved of firearm; 3 arrested during roadblock

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Three men have been arrested following the robbery of an Enmore, East Coast Demerara businessman, which occurred in Linden on Saturday, August 01.

According to the police, at about 13:00 hrs Naresh Pooran, 43 years, of Enmore, was held up by two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, at Coomaka, Linden, during which the perpetrators took away his licensed pistol and ammunition and $1M and escaped.

iNews understands that the businessman had just arrived at his saw mill at Coomacka Mines, Linden to pay his employees their weekly wages. Meanwhile, police ranks at a roadblock at Nottinghampshire, Linden, stopped and searched motor car HB 4064 in which the stolen firearm and ammunition along with $859,000.00 and an unlicensed .38 revolver with 3 rounds were recovered.

The three men are in police custody assisting with the investigations.

  1. Ramm jattan lie the phantom crew got to come back because since u all took away the election. Robbery on the rise n check out who is involved they r more rampant now.

  2. Good work from the police. The problem is prosecuting, there’s always some high flying mouth piece that will decimate the poorly train prosecutor, which in most cases is a police who have just a six months training, as against a lawyer who have over four years of legal training. What an imbalance!
