Education has come a far way – President Ramotar

DSC04991As part of the activities for education month, the education ministry today hosted its annual education rally. Contingents from various schools in Georgetown and the East Bank and East Coast of Demerara gathered at Parade Ground and then marched to the National Park where they were addressed by President Donald Ramotar.

President Ramotar told the students that the world is changing rapidly and because of this the importance of education is growing.

The Head of State said the Government has the capacity and capability to take the country to a higher level and that despite recent criticisms hurled at the education sector and while government as well is not satisfied, persons must also remember that they have come a far way.

Minister of Education Priya Manickchand in her remarks said that Guyana has the capacity to be the envy of the world. And for this to happen, she said all must be educated to the best of their ability.Rally feat

In addition, Manickchand noted that strong partnerships between the Government, the Schools’ Administrations and the Students and Parents are necessary. [Akash Ramlackhan]
