EBD home of officer broken into, firearm, matching rounds stolen

Police are now investigating an alleged break and enter and larceny committed on the home of a member of the Guyana Police Force in Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD) resulting in the theft of a firearm and matching rounds among other valuables,  sometime between 08:00hrs on Sunday last and 15:00hrs on Monday, when the discovery was made.

According to information received,  Superintendent of Police, Linden Isles left his 13th Avenue, Diamond, East Bank Demerara home on Sunday and returned on Monday to find the door leading to the first floor of his home, broken.

Further inspections revealed that his licenced 9mm Pistol and 50 matching rounds of ammunition along with cash and other valuables were stolen.

Isles indicated to ranks that he left his firearm and ammunition in a wardrobe in his bedroom.

Just recently, the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT) Commander, Deputy Superintendent Lonsdale Withrite was relieved of his duties following a robbery attack on him, which resulted in his service weapon along with sixteen live rounds of ammunition and his motorcar being stolen.

The Officer had reported that the robbery occurred at around 22:00hrs on October 2, in the vicinity of the Kitty Seawall.

Withrite was allegedly pounced on by three men, one of whom discharged two rounds at him before relieving him of the items and made good their escape.

However, moments after the robbery, the vehicle was found abandoned in the vicinity of Ogle Airstrip, East Coast Demerara (ECD) by members of the Police Force.
