GPL POLE (1)[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Power and Light is being called upon to get its act together as the residents of East Ruimveldt warn that if their concerns are not addressed the power company will be picketed.

Residents are upset after a GPL pole which has been rotting for months now, broke three nights ago causing residents in the area much discomfort.

iNews was informed that after the post broke on Monday night, the area began experiencing continuous power fluctuation which has resulted in damage to appliances.

Residents say that a crew from GPL visited the area and inspected the pole but never returned. Others complained of not being able to iron and are scared to utilize their appliances.

Several efforts to contact the Public Relations Officer of the Power Company were futile. The pole which is now compromised is said to be responsible for supplying power to just about 20 homes in the community. (Leroy Smith)
