East Coast sign artist slapped with robbery charge

An East Coast Demerara sign artist was today (Tuesday) slapped with a robbery under arms charge when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

robberyJevon Gillis, 20, of Lot 18 Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh to answer to the charge which alleged that on April 2 while being armed with a handgun he robbed Diane Payne of a 48” Television set valued $300,000, a Samsung tablet $50,000 and two Alcatel cellphones $18000 among other items; all valued to a total of $591,000 property of the said Diane Payne.

Police Prosecutor Aduni Inniss told the court that the investigating officer recovered both the television set and the Samsung tablet.

Despite Gillis’ lawyer’s, Paul Fung-A-Fat effort for bail to be granted he was remanded to prison. The case will continue on May 3, 2016.
