Duo granted bail for causing death by dangerous driving

first story[www.inewsguyana.com]Two men appeared before Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan on Thursday, charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Forty – three – year old Rondel Harry of South Ruimveldt Georgetown and 23 -year – old Mavin Messiah of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown both pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on June 07 at Mandela Public Road and Pineapple Street Georgetown, Harry drove motor car PNN 7258 while Messiah drove motor cycle CJ 4759 both in a dangerous manner, resulting in the death of 22 – year – old Tavel Gilbert of North Ruimveld Georgetown.

Gilbert was a pillion rider on motorcycle CJ 4759. The court was told that Gilbert sustained a broken neck, arms and leg along with a puncture to his head and other injuries about his body.

Gilbert succumbed to his injuries at the Georgetown public hospital. Meanwhile, police prosecutor Dinero Jones objected to bail which was overruled by the Magistrate who granted both men bail in the sum of $900,000 with their next court date set for October 08. [Royan Abrams]
