[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two men appeared on Tuesday, July 07, before Magistrate Ann McLennan, charged with subletting a hotel room that was then used to facilitate prostitution.

Sixty-four-year old Hotel proprietor, Joseph Barker and 41-year-old Bartender, Daniel Wilson of Hotel Benab, both pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that being the landlord and agent, respectively, of Benab Hotel and Bar, located at Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, they let a room for brothel purposes.

The duo was represented by Attorney-at-law, Adrian Thompson who requested reasonable bail for both men, stating the charge is not listed under custodial sentence.

He informed the Court that Barker suffers from hypertension. The Magistrate then granted $20,000 bail each and the matter was transferred to the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court for July 16.
