A driver is now in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after sustaining serious injuries to his body following an accident at Ruimzeight, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
Reports are that the accident took place around 08:00h this morning when two vehicles – a white car and a yellow car, were badly damaged.
The driver who was admitted at the city hospital was operating the yellow car when the incident took place. Public spirited persons rushed to offer their assistance in pulling his body out of the mangled vehicle in an attempt to save his life.
It is unclear at this point in time as to the condition of the other driver who was in the white car although he is believed to be seriously injured as well, due to the state of his vehicle.
According to eyewitnesses, given the extensive damage to both vehicles, it is likely that both drivers had been speeding along the WCD roadway when the accident occurred.
Police are presently investigating the matter.
