Working Peoples Alliance (WPA’s), Executive member, Dr Rupert Roopnarine has rescinded his resignation letter which was submitted to the President on Sunday last.
This information was confirmed by State Minister, Joseph Harmon at a post Cabinet presser held on Thursday morning.
Inews understands that the Minister, who was almost two months ago removed from the Education Ministry and reassigned to head the Public Service Department within the Ministry of the Presidency, rescinded his resignation on Wednesday evening after meeting with President David Granger.
The President had earlier on Wednesday confirmed that that he was in receipt of Roopnaraine’s resignation letter since Sunday last but had “not accepted it”.
“I have to meet with Dr Roopnaraine to discuss certain matters with him and when those discussions are ended if he wishes to speak with the media he will speak with the media but right now Dr Roopnaraine remains a member of the Cabinet,” the President had said.
Meanwhile, WPA Executive, Dr David Hinds, speaking with this publication, said that while he has heard about the resignation via the media, he is not in a position to confirm it.
Hinds had said that Dr Roopnaraine had engaged in a full discussion with the party over the weekend concerning his resignation.
