Corentyne labourer pinned to death under tractor, investigation launched


An investigation has been launched into the death of a 20-year-old labourer, whose body was reportedly crushed by a tractor on Monday at ‘Phillipe’ Backdam, Berbice.

The dead man has been identified as Alvin Dubaria of Corentyne, Berbice.

According to information received, the man was reportedly working in the fields and last seen driving a tractor, near the camp in the backdam.

His employer told police that he was utilizing another tractor, some distance away. However, after realizing that he needed a part for his heavy duty machinery, he went back to the location.

After he did not see or hear Dubaria, the employer said that they immediately started looking for him.

It was shortly after that the 20-year-old was observed under the tractor.

The young man was pronounced dead subsequently after.
