A Police Officer attached to the Ruimveldt Police Station, earlier today (Friday), appeared before City Magistrate Judy Latchman charged for threatening to kill his girlfriend.

Randy Martin, 36, of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown denied all charges brought against him when he made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

It is alleged that he, between April 1-18 2017 at South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown, unlawfully assaulted Cassandra Wickham.

It is also alleged that, he, on April 17 2017 at a seawall, Georgetown, again assaulted Cassandra Wickham.

And the final charge against him alleges that he used threatening language against the said Cassandra Wickham between April 1-13 2017.

The Court was informed by Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves that the defendant and Virtual Complainant (VC) shared a relationship, which was reportedly an abusive one.

On the days mentioned in the charges, the accused reportedly armed himself with a firearm and threatened to kill the VC. He allegedly forced himself on her and kissed her.

The matter was reported by the victim and as such the Officer was arrested and charged.

Martin was granted bail in the sum of $90,000 and is scheduled to make his next Court appearance on September 29 2017.
