Contenders beginning to emerge at Courts Pee Wee football tournament

[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Courts Pee Wee school football tournament continued on Saturday, October 25 with brilliant performances by the favourites pegged to win the tournament at the Banks DIH Thirst Park ground.

St Pius Primary played a good game of football, topping Green Acres Primary 5-1 in the round of 16 stage.

Raymond Austin scored twice for St Pius in the first and 32nd minutes while Youhan Yarris, Sherwin Nelson and Brendon Solomon netted in the seventh, 12th and 27th minutes respectively for St Pius. Lebron Wickham was the lone scorer for Green Acres in the 39th minute.

FE Pollard Primary School thrashed Smith Memorial Primary School 8-0 to end the day with a dominant performance.

Quincy Williams had a hat-trick in the third, 32nd and 36th minutes while teammate Makhaya Jarvis also had a hat-trick in seventh, 29th and 35th minutes.

Bryan Williams and Lesedi Daniels scored a goal each in the 37th and 24th minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, Stella Maris Primary School needled Enterprise Primary 1-nil for a much needed win. Earl Grant was the scorer of the lone goal in the 17th minute.

Tucville Primary School displayed their attacking capability with a 4-nil beating of North Georgetown Primary School.

Rayheem Marques, the tournament’s leading goal scorer with seven scored two goals in the game, netting in the eighth and 17th minutes while his teammate Keion Marques scored twice in the 14th and 34th minutes.

West Ruimveldt looked a bit on their heels despite their 2-0 victory over Ketley Primary School. Michael Oie opened the scoring for West Ruimveldt in the second minute while Jason Persaud followed in the 10th minute to close out the game for West Ruimveldt.

The other three games of the day saw St Angeles Primary defeating Marian Academy 2-1 while both South Ruimveldt and St Margaret’s Primary won 3-2 on penalty kicks against St Stephens Primary and East La Penitence Primary respectively.

Action in the tournament will continue on November 1.
