Construction Worker remanded for marijuana possession

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Construction worker, Christopher Jupiter was refused bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on a drug trafficking offence.

The defendant of Tucville Housing Scheme, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on Sunday, March 16 at Vlissingen Road, he had 15 grammes of marijuana in his possession.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant told the Court that at around 17:00 hrs the accused was stopped and searched by a Police patrol when the illegal substance was found in his right side pants pocket.

He was remanded and the matter was transferred before Magistrate Judy Latchman for trial on April 7.
