West Indies women’s team wins T20 World Cup

The West Indies women’s team have stunned Australia in the Women’s World Twenty20 final in India.

Set 149 to win, the Windies cruised to victory with eight wickets in hand thanks to a 120-run opening stand between captain Stafanie Taylor (59 off 57) and 18-year-old Hayley Matthews (66 off 45).

Earlier in the day Elyse Villani (52 off 37) and Meg Lanning (52 off 49) powered Australia to what was the highest score ever achieved in a Women’s World T20 final.

Australia women’s team made 148 for 5 in their 20 overs

WI women’s team in replay made 149 for 2 in 19.3 overs.
