Chinese national attacked, robbed in Berbice

Detectives in ‘B’ Division are investigating a report of robbery under arms committed on a Chinese national residing at Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice, which occurred between 01:30h and 01:45h. today, Monday, June 06, 2016.

robberyPolice say investigations have so far revealed that the victim Lin Yu Qiang, 33 years, who operates a Chinese restaurant at the bottom flat of the two-storey building, was awaken by a noise in the restaurant and upon checking was confronted by four (4) masked men, one armed with a handgun and the other with a cutlass.

They then demanded cash and valuables. The sum of $50,000., two laptop computers and a phone were handed over to the men who also ransacked the premises and escaped but not before injuring the victim to the back of his head with the gun, during a struggle, according to a Police statement.

The police responded promptly but no arrests have yet been made. The victim was taken to New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away.

Investigations are ongoing.
